I’d like to show you two important symbols. Their meanings should be fruitful for your understanding of the Occult. We should know that these symbols (especially the star symbol) is often used in public with the very intent of conveying the message which the star evokes in our psyche. Indeed, whether you like it or not, a symbol, whether it be a circle or a sun, has an effect on our nervous system. Let’s tackle through the pentagram.
We see this star painted with 5 colors and 5 symbols.
a) Yellow is air or intellect, our brain’s function to handle problems.
b) Green is for earth, our resources.
c) Red is for fire, our body’s actions.
d) Blue is for water or emotions, the spirit with which we accomplish a task.
e) White is for spirit, or high conscience, or a reason higher than ourselves for why we do things on Earth.
If we look at how this star is assembled, we see that the white triangle rules over the other 4. The two middle triangles refer to things done mindfully or with our emotions, and they should rightfully rule over the bottom two triangles. These represent the material world, our bodies included. With this model, humans can live coordinately with less and less strife happening in-between them. This is a great model to inspire us for great deeds and union between ourselves.
Let’s look at this symbol’s antithesis now:
Anton Szandor LaVey, Founder and High Priest of the Church of Satan, has this to say about the inverted star:
“In Satanism, the Pentagram is also used, but since satanism represents the carnal instincts of man, or the opposite of spiritual nature, the pentagram is inverted to perfectly accommodate the head of the goat – its horns, representing duality, thrust upwards in defiance; the other three points inverted, or the trinity denied.”
As we see, the star is now inverted. The top triangle is now driven down towards the ground. As is suggested by Mr. Szandor, this would suggest that high conscience, or a human common goal, is smothered in exchange for appetites and a quest for flavor. We should also know that the man we see in this symbol is Baphomet, a devil. This sinister being wants us, as a species, to be attached to our bodies in a narcissistic way. A real spiritual, wholly man, will, in contradiction to this ideology, seek the freedom of his body to approach high conscience step by step.
We should also note that Mr. Szandor talks about the denial of trinity. The trinity, as we’ve seen, is a union between all three brains, the three being reptilian, mammal and advanced cortex. We can also translate this unto three aspects of conscience, such as thought(mind), emotion(spirit) and matter(intellect). These evidently correspond to the three top triangles on the first star, with mind being substitute for Spirit or high conscience.
That’s it for this post. We once again see that high conscience and carnal passions are antithesis.
